Thomas' Diagnosis

After Thomas was first seen (last week), they knew his situation was similar to Mason's.

This is his update after the EUA:

Thomas has a large central tumor that is too big to treat with a laser or cryotheraphy or chemo injection.  His retina has detached around the tumor.  This is the worst of the 3 situations.

His other eye has a small peripheral tumor that they were able to zap with the laser.  This small tumor doesn't seem to be something that would affect his vision.

Heartbreaking.

I've asked how Les and Rich are holding up.  They are trying to hold onto the good news that they all have at least one eye that is in good shape.

Sweet Thomas...

  1. Bless their sweet hearts. They are so beautiful! Our prayers are with them and the whole family. You are doing a great job handling all this. Sometimes we are just carried along by angels to help us through these things and the experience ends up becoming an amazing journey.
    All our love, Susan Walton

  5. as a mom of ggg triplets (one w/ severe ROP) I have been following your blog daily and been praying for your beautiful boys. I know they will come out of this and be okay...triplets are fighters by nature and they have eachother- I am thinking of your family all of the time and asking my friends and family to pray as well.

  6. My 18 yr old daughter had retinoblastoma as a baby. she had 2 rounds of chemo and then had her right eye enucleated. It saved her life and we havent regretted a second of that decision. She's grown into a beautiful young woman and is off to college this fall. She wants to go into musical theatre. (Peter Falk-Columbo- who had retinoblastoma is her hero) Our prayers are with you; take comfort in every small victory! Beth Lee
