The next week or so is a 'wait and see' scenario...
Well, this shouldn't sound relaxing I guess.
After having spent a few days with the triplets myself, I can attest, there's never any down time. :)
I mean 'wait and see' in regards to treatment and prognosis.
They received their initial treatments on March 5. This included lasering and cryotherapy on the tumors in their eyes. Now, they have to wait and see how those tumors respond to the treatment. It's not immediate. It takes a week or two to know.
Mason will also be seen by the oncologist and have some blood work done. They do the blood work to test the white blood count and platelets since he had a little bit of localized chemo. They watch the levels carefully just as a precaution.

Until then, the Low's and 'grandparent support' are keeping busy caring for the babies.

Strollers in a blizzard. That looks fun...

I did not know boppy's could also be used as traveling pillows.
Grandma Grow must be tired! :)

Tummy time.
Who's Who?
Thomas is BLUE
Mason is ORANGE
Luke is GREEN
I just wanted to lend my support and love both as a mom of multiples and a retinoblastoma mom!
ReplyDeleteWow, these photos are very telling. It's got to be overwhelming just having triplets, let alone traveling in snow and really going anywhere in addition to all you have to do with their treatment. Leslie and Richard, I have been praying for you and your triplets often. I hope you're hanging in there. :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks COLD! And yes, Grandma Grow needs a break! That boppy is just preventing her head from dropping to the side or forward anymore! Poor lady! They should each take a boppy on the plane! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update and the photos, thinking of your families everyday, prayers for all of you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the updates and all our love to each of you!
ReplyDeleteWe pray for your comfort, peace and courage and, most of all, the healing and well being of those beautiful little boys--boys are beautiful, right? Right!!
I'd like to offer you support through this difficult journey. I've been through a fraction of what you're going through since my daughter was found to have a melanoma in her eye (and lost that eye) at 4 1/2. The tears never stop coming, but they don't come nearly as often. Now 12, she is an incredible person - not just in spite of the loss but in many ways because of it. However, we're long past the finish line. You're just getting started. And you have not one little girl but three baby boys plus a big brother ... so these are difficult days indeed. If you need anything please respond to this comment at anytime and I'll see your message in my email. Best wishes to all of you. Dana, Toronto

ReplyDeleteI read your story this morning in the paper. If anyone in your family is looking for a break - lunch, tea, dinner - my husband and I would be happy to have you over for dinner. We live in High Park / Bloor West Village and with all the fresh snow it's exceptionally beautiful right now; and I work near the hospital.
ReplyDeleteI recently spent three weeks at my Dad's bedside and it gets exhausting. Taking a 'me' break is OK
Your family was offered up in my faith group last night. You are in my thoughts and prayers and I am praying for your sweet babies and your family.

Such sweet boys. I adore the superhero onesies. I’ve become a big fan of superheroes since Owen was diagnosed. I put batman socks on him every time we go for an EUA or major treatment- it makes me feel more brave. I’ll be praying that the treatments do their job and kill any tumors that pop up.
ReplyDeleteThe tears of joy and sadness just flowed as I read about those wonderful baby boys. It must seem so overwhelming. Please know you will be in our prayers and thoughts. I hope and pray those treatments will be exactly what they need and they will not have to suffer. There is nothing more precious than babies.Suzyk
ReplyDeleteI saw the article in Deseret News and had to come over to your blog. I have a fondness for triplets, as I'm a twin with triplet sisters. I'll be praying for your family!
ReplyDeleteHi! I saw your article in the Deseret News and it hit close to home as I vividly remember my cousin battling this disease. My uncle has an article in the june 2013 Ensign titled "Improving Your Personal Prayers" by Elder Pearson. Towards the end under the section Did Heavenly Father Hear My Prayers? he talks a little bit about what he went through with his son with retinoblastoma. I ask so sorry you have to deal with this and especially with triplets. Your family will be in our prayers.
ReplyDeleteWe're still praying for you guys, Leslie! Loved the article in Deseret News. You guys are incredible!!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you all! I know God is working, because He gave these sweet little boys such wonderful parents and grandparents. May all children, especially those with special needs, have such support and love. Bless little Mason for being the one to call attention to his and his brothers' situation.
ReplyDeleteHi. I've just seen your story on the Daily Mail website, and stopped over to wish you all the best of luck with your adorable superheroes and of course the BIG BROTHER support ;-)
ReplyDeleteMy prayers are with you tonight, and I will mark you in my prayer journal to pray for you often.
God's blessings on you and your sweet family!
I don't personally know you, but I can tell you are both wonderful parents. Keep up the good work. You are a true inspiration.
ReplyDeleteHope everything goes well!
ReplyDeleteI live in Tri-Cities, Washington and your story has been passed on to me about 20 different times. My daughter developed retinoblastoma at the age of 2 as a direct result of a chromosome disorder (including deletion of the RB1 gene). My heart goes out to you, to all of you. I know what this feels like. I know what it's all going to feel like. My prayers are with all of you during this time. Know that you have a lot people out there rooting for you guys.

I wanted to share that our daughter, Jordan, had a similar diagnosis over 4 years ago. I thought it might be comforting for you to know that she is, in every way, a healthy and happy child. She is doing well in play school and loves swimming and playing with her sisters. There have been some interesting situations with her "special eye'', yet, these days it doesn't slow her down one bit! Your boys are so blessed to have you and each other. My husband and I have always felt so honoured that we were given the opportunity to be the parents of our miracle baby. It has not always been easy, but we have made peace with our circumstances. We have also maintained our sense of humour, which has helped tremendously. I hope you find comfort through the difficult times, it does get better. God bless, Jody
