It has been inspiring.
Leslie has commented what amazing support she received. Her Rb community, her religious community, her 'multiples' community, the cancer community, and her geographical community all surrounded them with so much love and support. It has been beautiful to see firsthand, people of different backgrounds and strengths reach out and help during a time of crisis and heartache.
People continue to ask, "What can I do to help?" With their immediate needs met, Leslie is the first to acknowledge the kindness of so many, and she felt like one way people could help, is to help these charities and organizations. There are some organizations that really have gone out of their way to help the Low's.
Leslie wanted to highlight some of these, in hopes these organizations / charities can continue on, in their valiant effort to help others around the world.
These organizations can always use volunteers and donations. If you want to do something to help, we feel this is a great way to do so.

http://specsforlittleheroes.com/ Children with one eye are 8 times more likely to injure/lose their existing eye. It is highly recommended they wear glasses to protect their good eye. Since these glasses don't require a prescription lens, insurance companies don't cover the glasses. This organization helps children by covering some of the expense of these protection glasses. |

http://www.kinderaugenkrebsstiftung.de/en/2012/10/meet-elli/ This is a European company that has created a stuffed elephant - ELLI. ELLI looks like a soft toy, but ELLI is no ordinary toy. ELLI has a loose eye to become a special companion and ally for a child with a glass eye. ELLI will be there to help children adapt to having a glass eye, to be strong during their treatment and to understand why they may be different from other children. ELLI is being made available free of charge as a gift from our foundation to children with eye cancer. This gift is being funded by our very generous donors. |
