EUA's today 3/4/15

It was a good news day today!
In short review:
Thomas no new tumors, no treatment needed.
Mason no new tumors, old one lasered and cryoed
Luke no new tumors, no treatment needed!

But in all reality, it was still one heck of a busy day...

8:30 boys cry...the day has begun
9:00 sippy cups of Apple juice only
9:30 take away all evidence of food or drink.
9:40 quick shower for Leslie
10:15 Leslie and Mason leave to sick kids for first appointment.
10:17 bring out sippy cups of Apple juice for Thomas and Luke.  :)
10:30 hide cups again, no more liquid until their appointments.
10:45 Thomas and Luke down for naps.
11:30 Mason gets pre-op eye drops and vitals.
11:40 Leslie socializes with the awesome sick kids staff
11:45 Leslie meets families and gives away a few bravery buddies
12:00 Thomas and Luke wake up
12:10 Mason goes into OR
12:15 Les tells us to "chop chop" and bring Thomas and Luke over to hospital
12:30 Meet up in pre-op and are quite the spectacle!
12:35 Thomas gets pre-op eye drops and vitals, meanwhile Sara keeps Luke happy (still no food!)
1:20 Mason finishes in OR and dr. debriefs us.
1:30 we divide and conquer - 
         Sara waits to be summoned to post op with Mason
         Emily and Leslie take Thomas and Luke to OR check in area.
         Leslie delivers Thomas to OR
         Emily waits with Luke, by this point he's so beyond hungry he is lethargic...
1:45 Thomas in OR
1:45 Sara helps in post op with Mason - feeding bottle, dressing, medication, vitals.
1:50 Les comes to check on Mason.
1:55 Leslie goes up to the 8th floor to visit other Rb families.
2:00. Nurse Lisa comes looking for Leslie, finds em with Luke and Sara with Mason.  She eventually gives Sara a cookie - for Leslie - because she knows Leslie needs to eat something.
2:10. Luke finally falls asleep with Emily.
2:20 Mason released from post op.
2:25 Thomas out of OR, enters post-op
2:26 Dr. Gallie looking for Leslie to give a rundown, finds em and Luke.
2:27 Emily texts les to "chop chop" get down to post op for dr. Gallie!
2:35 Leslie delivers Luke to the OR, and Nurse Lisa asks if she enjoyed the cookie, to which Leslie replies, "what cookie?"
2:40 Emily goes to post op with Thomas - feeding bottle, dressed, vitals.
2:42 Sara feeds Mason 2nd bottle of Apple juice
2:44 Leslie eats cookie
2:50 Emily and Thomas discharged from post-op go and join others in waiting room.
2:52 Thomas very cranky and wants just Leslie
3:00 Leslie takes Thomas on walk
3:10 Thomas and Mason both fall asleep, Sara and Leslie decide its a good time to get us adults lunch.
3:13 Receptionist assumes Sara Leslie and Emily are triplets and asks if triplets run in our family genes (no matter there's an 11 year span between us 3.  Leslie isn't surprised as she knows the last year has aged her, she just didn't realize it was by 11 years!)
3:18 Drs come into waiting room and find Emily with 2 of 3 babies, but no Leslie for debriefing.
3:19 Emily texts Les to "chop chop" get up here!
3:20 Luke finishes in OR
3:21 Leslie runs upstairs
3:25 Sara returns with food
3:26 After one bite of food, Drs return for debriefing
3:30 During debriefing post op staff finds us to say Luke needs an adult in post op
3:35 Emily and Luke in post op
3:40 Sara and Leslie start to eat their lunch
3:45 Ocularist finds Emily and Luke in post-op, so Emily texts les to "chop chop" get over here!
3:46 Ocularist puts prosthetic back in Luke - Emily is fascinated
3:48 Leslie goes back to finish eating
3:52 Luke and Emily discharged from post-op
3:55 Sara takes Luke on a walk so Em and Les can finally eat. (He was cranky, and rightly so)
4:00 One final meeting with anesthesiologist.
4:10 Dismantle our campout spot in the waiting room - gathering strollers from various hallways, Apple juice from fridges, hospital food trays, bravery beads and buddies, bundle everyone up, etc.
4:15 Say farewell to the friendly staff that love these boys.
4:20 Still waiting for elevator as none could fit a double and single stroller...it was crowded.
4:30 Walk back to the condo.
4:40 Boys finally eat some apple/pear/broccoli sauce.
4:45 Discussing the day and Emily says, "what cookie?"

  1. What a day! Can't imagine! You all do it looking happy and great. Those boys are so cute I can't handle it. Most of all so grateful for the good news!

  4. You're a rock star, Leslie, and are so blessed to have such positive and helpful women in your life! Something I don't have, but then again I don't have triplets either! As an RB mom, I know how exhausting these days can be...and that's just with one baby, not three!! You deserve a good ol pat on the back (or three)!! I'm so happy to hear your good news! xx

  6. Truly amazing as you live each day full of changes and challenges. This day seems like more than a marathon but three women have it together and under control. Sisterhood personified. What great examples to me. Thanks for sharing. I can't even keep current on your blog. It is truly an emotional and inspiring story from my eyes. Thank you all.
