Not Always As Planned...

From Leslie:

Tonight Rich and I took the kids to the neighborhood park.  As we arrived, I was a little jealous that the swings were being used!  Then I noticed they were twins, so I decided to get over it.  :)  Haha.

I smiled at the twins then went to work keeping our boys safe on the slide. A few minutes passed, and this sweet mom of the twins approached me, and exclaimed how darling my triplets were. We started to talk and she told me that her twins were actually not twins... they are triplets. But she lost one at 20 weeks.  And since the babies shared a placenta, she had to carry the deceased baby for 16 more weeks so she could deliver the other 2 healthily... Talk about a heart wrenching story!

After hearing her story, I gave her a hug and told her mine have cancer.  And there in the neighborhood partk, we hugged and cried together.  I commented about how hard it must be for her to always have people calling her children twins... She had the most optimistic attitude, and she seems like an amazing person.

Our evening at the park turned into more than simply taking the kids on swings and slides.  I was reminded once again that there are so many people out there with difficult situations that we often don't know about, because they aren't always clearly visible.  Sometimes life doesn't go as you hope or plan, but we are all trying to make the best of it.
