Home soon

Thomas had his car seat test this afternoon. He did awesome for the first 70 min. The monitor didn't go off once. Then he decided to add some suspense. His oxygen levels kept dropping for a few seconds. Technically if they have 2 instances where their oxygen levels drop bellow 88 for more than 10 seconds, it is a fail. Well, he had about 3 of those, so technically he failed again. But he never had to have intervention to wake up or bring his levels up. The car seat test is quite subjective and circumstantial, so failing it doesn't always mean that they aren't ready to come home. So the dr suggested that we take him off the monitor for the night and see how he does. And if we feel good about it we can bring him home tomorrow (the 24th). So I think we will bring both Thomas and Luke home tomorrow for Christmas Eve!  We are very excited to bring them home. I feel bad leaving Mason there without his brothers, but we just don't know how much longer he will be. And it isn't fair to continue to keep Luke and Thomas there when they are healthy/big enough to be home. The dr said that since Mason had his episode quite early into the car seat test, it isn't worth trying him for a few days, so it is going to be a little while longer. In the mean time, they have decided to try and get him fattened up a little faster. They are adding a little bit of formula to his bottle on 2 of his feeds each day. Hopefully, just a bit of supplementation will help him grow. He will still get my milk, it will just be thickened a bit with formula. Anyways, that is the update for today. We will post some pictures if Thomas and Luke come home tomorrow!

  1. So exciting!!! I was hoping you would at least get one of them home for Christmas! Even if you just got one it would be special time for you and that ONE...time you won't have much! They are doing so great! And I am really glad you update this blog so often. :) Thanks!
