Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.  Those of us affected by cancer know about it, and you'll often see facebook profiles with a gold ribbon trying to spread awareness.

This week we got an email from a family we've never met.  They have a son named Thomas, and surprisingly enough, his best friends are named Mason and Luke!  We couldn't believe the coincidence!  These boys heard a news story about the triplets and decided they wanted to do something to help.  They wrote a sweet letter and distributed it around their neighborhood.  They are collecting cans for the entire month of September to help support Childhood Cancer Awareness month.

I think it is awesome they would do something like this.  Not all 11 year old boys are caring enough to do a service project like this on their own, in their free time.

This was their letter:
"Hi we are Thomas, Luke and Mason and we are VERY close friends, we count each other as brothers.  We wouldn't want to lose each other so we wouldn't want this family to lose any of their boys.  So we are doing a bottle drive for the triplets Thomas, Luke and Mason to help raise money for their very rare eye cancer called retinoblastoma."

We asked them for a picture, and they sent us a photo of their first collection of the month.  So awesome.  Just imagine, if everyone remembered childhood cancer victims and survivors this month, and did just a little something to help spread awareness, think what it could do!

Thanks Thomas, Luke and Mason!  You guys are rock stars!
