It feels so good to report that all EUA's today went well. No big surprises! Each of the boys had old, existing tumors retreated today. Thomas' tumor is a bugger and has been hanging around longer than they'd like. So, they want to see them again in 6 weeks to make sure to zap it real good.
The boys DNA test came back a few weeks ago confirming they are identical. Today's EUA's might've also proved that, as Luke and Mason's treated tumors were in the same spot on the eye as eachother, and Thomas' tumor (other eye than theirs) was the mirror image of their tumors! Strange.

The awesome helpers this trip, Amanda and Cynthia, waiting at the occularist. The boys eyes were getting refitted and Luke was getting a new eye. |
Waiting room toys are always fun.
Thomas - Mason - Luke
The boys (especially Luke) have learned how to take off their socks. This makes it so whenever in the strollers, someone has to follow behind to pick up the straggling debris (socks) strewn aside by the boys!
Thomas is good at pursing those lips!
At many hospitals, there are programs for sick children in which when they go through a procedure (like an IV poke, or anesthetic, or blood draw) they earn a specific bead. Each bead signifies an event. Many sick children have long strands and necklaces of beads. Leslie's boys are too young for necklaces, so Les had a great idea to create a stuffed animal that could hold the boys cancer beads. They fit in the mouth, go down a small throat and end up in the see through pocket in the belly. :) These are the beads they earned just on Tuesday during their EUA's.
I am shocked they are identical- but how fun!
ReplyDeleteAnd the stuffed animals are absolutely adorable!
What a wonderful idea for the bravery beads! Those will be such a wonderful moment for the boys. So glad that the treatments today were relatively straightforward and that no new tumours were found. Have a safe trip home.
